May 4, 2011 to August 7, 2011
This exhibition was organized by the Costume Institute, to honor Alexander McQueen’s contributions to fashion. The Metropolitan Museum of Art displays the contrasting pieces, of his body of work, in raw form. Since it’s opening on May 4th, more than 180,000 have made their way to the museum to gaze upon his designs. Admission is $20 during regular museum hours, and $50 on Mondays (9:30am-2:30pm) when the rest of the museum is closed. Alexander McQueen’s exaggerated silhouettes and archived pieces are a must see for anyone who believed in his work.
“Clothes and jewellery should be startling, individual. When you see a woman in my clothes, you want to know more about them. To me, that is what distinguishes good designers from bad designers.” -Alexander McQueen
