CMLA: ClothesMinds Los Angeles

Marquel, designer from Los Angeles, California, is anything but average. From sketching stick figures and drawing inspiration from an older cousin who’d developed his own street wear line at the time, Marquel realized he’d found something he loved and wouldn’t stop until his vision became his reality. In March of 2012, CMLA, ClothesMinds Los Angeles, a brand created by Marquel and his brothers Mingo and Lockz, was born. Their main focus was to stay true to themselves and their vision, all the while, maintaining a fresh and unique look for their products. The reoccurring “777” that appears on their products means more than what meets the eye. The number 7 is said to be a highly spiritual number. “It indicates that you have listened to Divine Guidance, and are now putting that wisdom to work in your life. The time has come to reap the rewards for your hard work and efforts,” Marquel responded when I asked the meaning of “777.” It is also a message letting one know that they are on the right path, fulfilling their divine purpose in life. I asked if he’d experienced any downfalls along the way, and his answer was that of a true artist: “I can’t really say I have any. I mean, I love what I do, and wouldn’t change that for the world.”
