Chicago has begun an emergence as a titan amongst the fashion forward cities of the world. For years it has been only known for its commercial fashion and corporate sectors due to being the home base of companies such as Ebony Magazine, AKIRA, & Jet magazine . In recent years, a fresh wave of young fashion designers have surfaced in the windy city. They are unafraid to push against trends and refuse to follow rules, which is the very nature of fashion itself. We were given VIP Access to the “The Black Carpet” fashion show, held on Sunday, May 30th at the Illinois Institute of Technology .

The show featured 8 of the cities new daring fashion designers and musical artists including (but not limited to): Creatistic Wear, Socialite by Veronica Ariel, REDLINE clothing (as seen in AKIRA stores) Urban Punk , DatBoyHot, Demi Lobo, and much more.

In every major city you will see flyers promoting events, with models photos on them. Generally these flyers have been made without the models permission to use their images. It has been common rule that if it is on the internet it can be used, however Judge Judy made a industry changing ruling recently about the usage of images for commercial purposes.

Models and graphic designers please watch this is industry changing.

Now we admit that BET has taken its fair share of shoots in the past with BET uncut, and some other degrading videos on African American women, however they have gone just too far. The above video was recently boycotted by BET programming as being ” degrading to women”. Really, I know I saw on 106 and park “The Booty Do”, hmmm is this politics or the new payola?? You be the judge from our viewpoint, things look respectable. It paints a good picture of the song, the women are dressed nicely and the words are not rated R.

We will find an email or contact to petition this decision and see if our voices can be heard and get this quality video on air. We don’t have the best contact for BET but let’s try here see if this works.
